Technology is power. Every person has a fundamental right to power. And if we are to create a more equitable world, then all of us must be equipped with the knowledge to understand, use and create with the emerging technologies that are shaping the world.

Rep is a step toward democratizing this power. It’s aimed at helping young people understand how emerging technologies work and how they can equip themselves to ask better questions, design equitable technologies and become better at understanding their own bias as designers and creators.

The first issue of Rep, “Help! I need some BOT-y” is focused on voice bots like Siri, Google Home, or Alexa. The second issue focuses on Gene Editing and its uses for medicine, agriculture, and more. The third issue, "Constella," is a story-based, choose your own adventure game about decision-making and problem-solving using algorithms.

We believe

It’s not about becoming a coder; it’s about knowing what the code can do.

Technology is personal. Students bring identities and digital practices into the classroom.

If we want emerging technology to be equitable, it needs to represent all of us.

Learning is the process of equitable co-creation and authentic reflection.
